January

My concentration is Fariy Tales. I only have one piece because I'm trying this new thing where i just take my time so I don't end up with one okay one and then one really sucky one. This one is Cinderella, and the other one will be Hansel and Gretel done with Encaustics.

  1. Sarah!!! I love this one. The contrast of the gold and the black really make the piece pop. Also, the layered/depth giving look of the mice and balls of string makes this very interesting to look at. With the stuff that you did the photo transfer on though, the shape of it looks like it is outlining the picture in an oval which sort of cuts off the image. MAybe do the photo transfer last next time so you can better work it into the piece?

  2. Sarah I really enjoy looking at this! I love all the different textures and the mice receding into the background definitely gives it depth. I love that there are so many different elements to it. I agree with Jaimie that the photo transfer feels somewhat enclosed. Next time maybe if some of the elements were going off of the picture a little more, it would help to make it feel less enclosed? But I love everything that's happening in this! good job :)

  3. sarah you make me laugh! i totally understand spending time on one piece but ending up with your second one thrown together last minute. i think your hard work is really paying off; i love the mice and the style you chose. wear did you find that picture of little kids? it's so cute. i'm not sure if i really understand the gold. it almost seems a little too cluttered to me. i really like how the little girl is looking at the mice though, it draws your eye into the center of the piece and moves you throughout the whole work. overall you did a fantastic job, i just don't really get the gold.
