strugglee

After I finally chose a concentration topic (fairy tales), I thought it would be easy to start doing art. Wrong. It was even MORE of a struggle for me to actually get down and start making things. All i could think was "this is the real deal, this stuff has to be cool", and it totally threw me off. In the end, the two pieces I came out with were polar opposites, but what I was really trying to focus on was that my art didn't end up looking like pages out of a story book. To do this I think I'm going to keep my pieces more on the realistic/not cartoon-ie side so they don't stat looking like illistrations.

I came across these vouge fairy tale pictures on the internet and thought they were cool in that they obviously represent a fairy tale but it isn't like a Disney storybook picture. This is what i'm going for in my art too

concentration

i can't choose a concentration. first i wanted to do something with age but now i think i've settled and am going to do fairy tales. i'm the most indecisive person ever though so i'm sure i'll change it a bunch more times before the end of the year. this is so much harder than i thought!

meow

There are a few things i want to touch....first of all, concentrations. I can't believe it is time to pick them already! I am the most indecisive person ever so I know picking a concentration is going to be a struggle with a capital S. Secondly, I'm starting to stress out about our self portraits. I've had a lot of fun doing mine though because it is much different than everything else I've done. I've been playing with gel medium photo transfers and transparency photo transfers and I would love to play with both of those more in whatever concentration I pick. I'm just feeling a bit out of my comfort zone with my portrait just cause I'm trying something new. Lastly, while trying to get inspiration for my hat, I came across this picture and I fell in love.
so cute!!!

I had so much fun taking pictures on Wednesday! My favorite place was at the farm- I loved the early morning lighting and quirky things there. Here two I took there that I thought were kinda cool... I still feel like a real amateur photographer though!

...and lets not forget about Princess Sparkle!

i don't know what i'm doing!

so this is my first blog post. i'm not really a technology girl and all my friends are making fun of me that i have to keep a blog. what do i write about?! i have noo idea but i guess it has to have something to do with art. this summer i expanded my horizons by doing encaustics with a portland artist named Andrea Benson. it was really fun and i'm so excited that she was able to teach me the ways of the wax. hoping to do more in the future!
